SAFETECH \u00a0is proud to be well positioned, winning many\u00a0of these valuable\u00a0contracts\u00a0year after year.\u00a0Sometimes\u00a0the expansion joints will be for a new facility\u00a0\u2013\u00a0or it might be that a complete expansion joint or just the rubber bellow needs\u00a0to be replaced at the end of its life. SAFETECH has\u00a0the engineering design capability, technical experience, the capacity \u2013 and crucially \u2013 the experience.\u00a0\u00a0A typical application is a Thermal Power Plant where the expansion joints need to operate at 6\u00a0barg\u00a0and full vacuum.<\/p>\n<p><strong>High\u00a0water flow and low pressure<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These large dimension rubber expansion joints generally have a high water flow rate (non-aggressive fluid) but low operating pressure, so\u00a0when installed correctly and\u00a0used under the conditions for which they were manufactured they should last\u00a0at least 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>Joints like these require a\u00a0specialist manufacturer.\u00a0Their sheer size presents significant challenges during manufacture\u00a0and\u00a0also\u00a0in\u00a0preparation for transport. The actual manufacturing process\u00a0is largely similar to smaller joints but there are some important differentiators:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High\u00a0tooling cost.<\/li>\n<li>A large\u00a0autoclave\u00a0is required\u00a0to\u00a0vulcanize\u00a0the joint.<\/li>\n<li>The manufacturing space needs to be\u00a0sufficiently large and\u00a0with easy access.<\/li>\n<li>Specialist\u00a0transport\u00a0will be\u00a0required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>SAFETECH subjects\u00a0all its expansion joints\u00a0to\u00a0strict\u00a0monitoring throughout the manufacturing process.\u00a0From\u00a0design, through manufacturing, packaging and on to\u00a0final shipment,\u00a0we can offer\u00a0on-request\u00a0dimensional\u00a0reports,\u00a0\u00a0pressure\u00a0and vacuum testing. Rigorous\u00a0quality\u00a0control is\u00a0the\u00a0key\u00a0to\u00a0our very\u00a0good\u00a0customer service\u00a0record.<\/p>\n<p>Maintenance\u00a0of rubber expansion joints\u00a0is important.\u00a0Visual inspections\u00a0should\u00a0be carried out\u00a0annually\u00a0from the 5th year of operation onwards\u00a0checking that the rubber bellow\u00a0is in good condition and that the following defects are not present:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>External cracking or damage.
